| Villa Maria Academy Celebrates Our 114th Birthday! | |
| 114 years of Faith, Family, Excellence, and Traditions.
Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1892, the Sisters charism of unity and inclusiveness have Excellence in Academics, Arts, Leadership and Athletics are hallmarks of a VMA education. And with Traditions that date back to the late 1800’s, VMA maintains a long lineage of history. Whether it’s the annual May Crowing or SPORTS DAY, Villa students long remember the traditions well into their adult lives. The celebration starts with a Para liturgy at 9:30 AM followed with birthday cake for all served at all lunches in the cafeteria. And Villa has an additional item to celebrate. VMA Principal Sr. Mary Drexler, is celebrating the start of her 3rd month as principal. She started the school year with a DEAL OR NO DEAL assembly on August 28. Sr. Mary prepared attaché cases with prizes in them for students to deal with. The students passed on more homework but came away with a pizza party, dress down days, free homework nights and a cookie day in the Cafeteria. Members of the media are invited to join the celebration with cake on Friday, September 8 from 11:45AM to 1:20 PM at the Villa Maria Academy Cafeteria, 2403 West 8th Street. Villa Maria Academy is the oldest of the three Catholic High Schools in the Erie Area. Villa a Catholic, co-educational, secondary school established to further the mission of unity of the Sisters of St. Joseph. Through our leadership, environment and programs, we empower young people to recognize their God-given uniqueness and talents, to acquire knowledge and skills for success in a global society, and to engage the future with optimism, generosity and confidence. |
