Our Faculty and Staff - Fine Arts


William Pohl
Mr. Pohl is a graduate of Edinboro University with a BFA in Applied Media Arts and a concentration in Photography. Mr. Pohl has a successful photography business and is an avid photographer. He also teaches private lessons in photography and PhotoShop. He has had his photography published and has participated in numerous art shows.

   

Teresa Agnello
Mrs. Agnello earned a BFA in Commercial and Industrial Arts from Southwest Texas State University. She presently works as a freelance artist specializing in fabric art, wall murals and painted furniture.

   

Greg Hardner

Mr. Hardner is a 1993 graduate of Penn State with a BS in English Education. He has worked professionally in technical theater for 20 years. Some of Mr. Hardner’s previous positions include Technical Director of Lisner Auditorium in Washington D.C. and Production Manager of the Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center at Mercyhurst College. He is currently a Project Manager with Grise Audio Visual Center.

   

David Matthews
Mr. Matthews attended Westminster College and Youngstown State University. He recently retired as the Managing Director of the Erie Playhouse, a position he held since 1972. He also led the creation of the Erie Playhouse Youth Theatre and was previously active with the New Castle Playhouse and the Kenley Players of Ohio.

   

Caroline Granahan Miceli
A 2000 graduate of VMA and a 2004 Cum Laude graduate of Otterbein College in Westerville, OH, Mrs. Miceli has a Bachelor’s of Music Education degree and a teaching certificate from the state of Ohio. As a VMA student, Mrs. Miceli performed in Fiddler on the Roof, The Pajama Game and Damn Yankees. Mrs. Miceli can occasionally be seen performing at the Erie Playhouse.

   

Sarah Purvis
Ms. Purvis is a graduate of Mereyhurst College with a BA in Political Science. In addition to teaching, directing and choreographing dance at VMA for seven years, she is a founding member of the Erie Dance Conservatory, is on the executive committee of the Erie Dance Consortium, and has also taught and choreographed dance at Lake Erie Ballet and Salt & Pepper Mine Company.

   

Jessica Sessler
Miss Sessler attended Alfred University in New York for Ceramics before transferring to Mercyhurst College, where she earned a BA in Art Therapy, with a minor in Religious Studies. She also has an Art Education Certification from Mercyhurst College. Miss Sessler is currently pursuing her Master of Fine Arts degree part-time through the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

   

Kent Tucker
Mr. Tucker is a graduate of Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri, with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. In addition to teaching band at VMA, he teaches at Villa Maria Elementary and Mercyhurst College. He performs as a professional trombonist with the Erie Philharmonic, the Erie Chamber Orchestra, and the Dave Stevens Big Band.
