SPECIAL ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
Edinboro University of Pennsylvania has an Articulation Agreement with Villa Maria Academy. Up to 12 Edinboro credits can be earned by taking specific English, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science classes at VMA if the student enrolls at Edinboro within two years of graduation. Erie Business Center has and Articulation Agreement with VMA. EBC will award 18 credits toward completion of the Associate in Specialized Business (ASB) degree programs when students take designated courses in the following departments: Business, English, Math, Science and Social Studies. Erie Institute of Technology has an Articulation Agreement with VMA. EIT will award 5 credits toward required course work necessary for the award of the Diploma in the Computer Programs. See the Business and Technology Department for more details.
Gannon University has an Articulation Agreement with VMA. A maximum of 18 college credits can be awarded by taking specific English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Theology, Science and Language courses if the student enrolls at Gannon within two years of graduation. Gannon University also offers a Dual Enrollment program that gives juniors and seniors an opportunity to enroll in classes (not offered at VMA) on the Gannon campus for a reduced tuition. Grades from these Gannon classes will be included in the student’s transcript but not their GPA.
Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and Villa Maria Academy have an educational partnership to encourage VMA graduates to pursue programs to become physicians or pharmacists. LECOM will partner with VMA to develop educational programs that will challenge the students’ science skills and prepare them for health professions.
LECOM also hopes to expand a pharmacy technician program that introduces high school students to community pharmacy and opens the door to jobs with local drugstores.
LECOM will also reintroduce a summer high school medical education program with the assistance of VMA. This program will show students how physicians diagnose patient cases and allow teams of students to study their own patient cases.
